The Akamba Handcraft Industry Co-operative Society, established in 1963, is the largest wood carving cooperative in Kenya with 2,800 active members and over 7,000 non-member artisans. Located in Mombasa and spanning over nine acres, the Akamba cooperative not only provides economic opportunities but also ensures the continuity of traditional crafts while incorporating modern techniques.
